New signs on 73 road at the split 1 mile past suntop turnoff

Some years ago, Todd asked us to sign this area on 73 Road (shown in the gallery), about a mile past the turnoff to Suntop. There are many camping areas past this point, and shooters had made a big mess of the area. We did not have the volunteers to canvas this area in the past, but we believe we do now. It will be a challenge, but we think we can reclaim many of these prime camping areas from illegal shooting. It is also near the two parking areas for MRNP access, just beyond here, which is another good reason to prevent illegal shooting in the area where so many people hike. A big thanks to Doug and Katherine, who spearheaded this work that took many hours to complete. Each treated post has 60 pounds of concrete holding it in place. This is where the road splits into two different directions, and both sides of the fork are double-signed. This will also be a test of four signs in close proximity to see how that system works, although we expect to replace them soon, as is usually the case. We can now also begin cleaning up some of the shooting trash in that area.
